The TPS20xxC and TPS20xxC-2 power distribution switch families are designed for applications such as USB, where high capacitive loads and short circuits may be encountered. This family offers multiple devices with fixed current limit thresholds for applications with currents between 0.5A and 2A.

When the output load exceeds the current limit threshold, the TPS20xxC and TPS20xxC-2 limit the output current to a safe level by operating in constant current mode. This provides a predictable fault current under all conditions. When the output is short-circuited, the fast overload response time reduces the burden on the main 5V supply to maintain regulated power. To significantly reduce current surges during turn-on and turn-off, the rise and fall times of the power switch are controlled.
