Introduction
ESP32-WROVER is a general-purpose Wi-Fi + BT + BLE MCU module, powerful and versatile, suitable for low-power sensor networks and demanding applications such as voice encoding, audio streaming, and MP3 decoding. ESP32-WROVER comes in two variants: one with a PCB onboard antenna and one with an IPEX antenna. ESP32-WROVER is configured with 4 MB SPI flash and 8 MB SPI PSRAM. ESP32-WROVER is based on the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip. The ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip is scalable and adaptive. The two CPU cores can be controlled independently. The clock frequency is adjustable from 80 MHz to 240 MHz. Users can power off the CPU and use the low-power co-processor to monitor peripheral status changes or whether certain analog values exceed a threshold. ESP32 also integrates a rich set of peripherals, including capacitive touch sensors, Hall sensors, low-noise sensing amplifiers, SD card interface, Ethernet interface, high-speed SPI, UART, I²S, and I²C. The module integrates classic Bluetooth, BLE, and Wi-Fi, enabling a wide range of applications: Wi-Fi supports long-range communication and direct internet connectivity via a router, while Bluetooth enables users to connect to smartphones or broadcast BLE Beacons for signal detection. The ESP32 chip's sleep current is less than 5 μA, making it suitable for battery-powered wearable electronics. The module supports data transfer rates up to 150 Mbps with an antenna output power of 20 dBm, enabling maximum-range wireless communication. ESP32 runs freeRTOS with LwIP and features built-in TLS 1.2 with hardware acceleration. The chip also supports OTA encrypted upgrades, allowing users to continue updating the product after release.
Applications
Low-power sensor networks; voice coding; audio streaming; MP3 decoding; battery-powered wearable electronics
