An Overview of Diodes
As a one-direction bridge, a diode allows current to follow the Anode to the Cathode, a perfect insulator that prevents current from flowing in the Cathode. As an ideal perfect conductor, lets current through in the Anode. The direction that allows current to flow from the anode to the cathode, is called the forward-biased direction. on the contrary, it is called reversed biased direction.
What are the Common Diode Packages?
The diode packages include the following types. They all have the Anode and the Cathode pin. Some have the third pin, which can be anode or cathode depending on the package.
Through-hole mounted diode: DO-14, DO-21, DO-203AB, 194-04, 60-01, 339-02, TO-220A, etc.
Surface-Mount diode: SOD-123, SOD-323, SOT-23, SMA/DO-214AC and more to explore.
